July 1 Update: Some tickets remain, to be sold on a first come, first served basis at the registration desk at Argyllshire Gathering Halls starting midday, Monday 16th July, cash only (no cards, no cheques).
The Banquet is for those who like a more formal type of special occasion. It will be held in the beautiful Argyllshire Gathering Hall in Oban. There will be live traditional Scottish music by Joanie Garvin (violin) and Michael Garvin (accordion) and some special presentations, including Àdhamh Ó Broin performing a Duncan Ban MacIntyre poem in both English and Gaelic.
Prior to the Gathering, you will make your meal section (included in the cost of registering for this event) from a menu especially chosen to showcase local produce. There will be options for special diets to include gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, etc. We expect to have a couple of bottles of wine on each table, along with still and sparkling water. There will be a cash bar for those who prefer their libations a bit stronger.
After dinner, or between courses, there will be performances with a MacIntyre connection and introductions of those who have helped make the Gathering possible.
Men are encouraged to wear kilts and ladies are encouraged to wear tartan sashes to add to the ambience. For the men, a coat and tie is preferred, but certainly one or the other. We know that the luggage weight limitations make it difficult to bring kilts and jackets from overseas, but this is a special trip. Maybe the men who have them will wear them on the plane to save on the weight and give the other passengers something to gossip about? This will ensure that the kilt doesn’t become “lost luggage”? Just be sure to not wear a Skean Dhu or even a kilt pin on the airplane.
If you wear a kilt every day at the Gathering, no one will dare remark that you’re wearing the same clothes day after day. For those who are interested, kilts and jackets can be rented in Oban: Geoffrey the Tailor or Chambers-Hector Russell. Neither of them have MacIntyre tartan as rentals.
A ticket includes a three-course catered meal of local specialities, music, stories, and other entertainment. Cash bar. Open seating; if you want to make sure your party sits together, you should send someone over early to reserve seats.
You can buy event tickets only if you have already registered for the Gathering. Please ensure you have done this before trying to buy tickets. Your username and password were emailed when you created a user account after registering.
Caution
These activities are still “proposed” until we have sufficient registrations to cover costs of running each event or activity. We will do our very best to provide activities as listed; however, they may be cancelled or modified due to bad weather, lack of attendance, changes in availability of transport, or any other factors beyond our control.
If a tour is undersubscribed and is cancelled, we will work with you to find a replacement activity or tour.
Please read the event descriptions carefully and use your own good judgment as to whether an activity is within or outside your physical ability. If you feel it might be beyond your ability please tell us as soon as possible. We will do everything in our power to provide modifications or assistance, but in some cases it won’t be possible or feasible for some people to take part in some activities.

Bookings are closed for this event.
Lochlyn( 1 years old) will be sitting with us, Kristen and Andrew Switzer. I am also wondering if we can request to sit with Marion Kelly (she is my Aunt)? Thank you!
Kristen
We’ll do our best Kristen, I’ve noted your preferences for banquet seating.
Hello, I would really love and appreciate it if my 2 reserved seats were seated with my immediate family (Gordon & Linda McIntyre, Marion & Ron Kelly, Andrew & Kristen Switzer).
We’ll do our best Jared – I’ll note your preferences for the banquet seating.
I registered us as needing a gluten free option and a vegetarian option. Will that work for this?
Thank you!!
Deb & Jenny McIntyre
Hi Deb and Jenny, we will be very aware of dietary requirements and will provide gluten free and vegetarian options 🙂
